Five Reasons why Huntelaar should stay at Ajax
By: Mike | June 2nd, 2008So, about this multi-named, bizarrely toothed, young conqueror of a man.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar. By my research he has scored 34 goals in 39 games for Ajax Amsterdam this year. What are the realistic changes of “the Hunter”, as he is so affectionately known, staying at the ArenA? Well not great in my opinion. Ajax are trying though and some do indeed believe.
Here are my 5 reason why he should stay:
1) Credibility for Ajax: If they manage to keep their hands on the single most sought after young talent in Europe they will gain immeasurable respect from Europe. Should Huntelaar come out and say that he wants to stay at home with newly appointed Marco van Basten and Dennis Bergkamp Ajax will be seen as a club on the rise rather than a wonderful production line for the rest of Europe
2)Credibility for the Eredivisie: It follows that if one of the most storied clubs in the Netherlands gains respect than the league as a whole grows as well. Quality breeds quality.
3)The Development of the man himself: I defy anyone to show me a due of managing former strikers better suited to teach Klaas Jan Huntelaar than van Basten and Bergkamp? Quality breeds quality no? If I’ll be permitted to quote myself.
4)The Oranje’s Future: Ruud van Nistelrooy is aging and the Oranje need a replacement for the future. That future rests squarely on his young shoulders. Shuster of Real Madrid thinks he is a clone of van Basten: no small compliment.
5)Reassurance for those Who want to believe that Money won’t buy you everything: Yes, there are those who want so much to believe that quality, skill and beautiful play can’t be bought by whoever has the deepest pockets. I’m optomistic but it keeps me going.
Going to the Arsenal game? Find out how to get to North London and where to stay near Emirates Stadium.

I can’t wait for EK2008 to start.
Its always good for a player like Engelaar to get his chance. Same with de Cler. Not even close to house hold names but they have their shot on the big stage.

I would agree with you; however, he will probably leave so here is my question, “Where would you like to see him go?”
PS: I am a Juve fan and would love to see him play for us, and maybe he can emulate Van Basten for us and bring us a good amount of silverware.

Mike, your obsession with this guy is understandable. He’s a good great young player that we’d all love to have around for 10 more years, but you need to let it go….

Don’t get me wrong, I think he will leave. And being a Manchester United supporter I hope he comes to Old Trafford but coming from an unselfish point of view and from someone who wants the best for Dutch football I think it would be best if he stayed.

Sorry, Juve, I wanna see him in red and yellow if he goes to Italy.

I sure hope he goes to England over Italy. I think he’ll struggle in Italy. Those defenders are much nastier in Spain and Italy than England. He’ll be able to get around better in England without getting hacked about. I see a Chelsea swoop coming either in the window or next season. Anelka is done.
