Johan Cruyff never won the lotto: AZ leads!

Feyenoord fans demand a pay rise for coach Verbeek!
Someone once said: Maybe JC knows a lot about football, but he never won the Toto, did he?
(Toto: betting game where you predict the scores of the football matches in a certain weekend. If you have them all good, you win a massive amount of money).
This mid-week was another one of those… Who’d expected Feyenoord to lose AGAIN? This time against Sparta. Just like last year (3-2), Feyenoord lost undeservedly (2-1 this time) but…who cares? Losing is losing…
Feyenoord took the lead (0-1) and seemed to be on top. A mistake at the back, a slip up, meant the 1-1 and while everyone expected Feyenoord to score the winner, it was again Tim de Cler (you gotta feel sorry for the chap) who was outplayed late in the second half and the stingy counter-attack brought Sparta the three points.
Verbeek: “I don’t know what to say… We worked hard, we did everything we needed to do bar scoring. If you want to win matches, you need to bury the ball whenever you can. We had many opportunities but we squandered them. And then one mistake means we lose the game. It’s a blow, but we need to keep focused and keep working and we will turn this around.”
Ajax played away against Heracles. The Almelo team beat Feyenoord on match day 1. And it did seem that the creative youngsters would give Ajax a hard time too. Siem de Jong played offensive midfielder, Gabri was benched. With 1-1 on the board in the second half (and Gabri on for the disappointing Leonardo) it seemed another shock result was on it’s way, but right in time Huntelaar broke his drought with two great goals (1-3).

Van Gaal and topscorer El Hamdaoui
NAC and Heerenveen both lost their games. Vitesse was too strong for Sollied’s team while FC Twente beat NAC in Breda. NEC went to visit FC Groningen and the two attractive playing teams entertained the masses. Leader Groningen couldn’t win though and despite great goals from both teams, the game ended undecided (2-2) with a late equalizer by Groningen.
With NAC and Heerenveen losing and NEC and Groningen sharing the points, it was Louis van Gaal’s AZ that took the reigns in the Eredivisie. They won against Roda JC (2-0) and it looks like the last season never existed… Is this Louis’ year?
