PSV keeps stumblin’…

By: Jan | November 9th, 2008

Wisgerhof scores the 1-0 against PSV

It’s not news anymore. The Top Three have difficulties winning their games. This time around, Mario Been’s NEC again was the slayer of a giant. After having beat Feyenoord in De Kuip and almost having upset Ajax in Amsterdam, this time around the UEFA cup participant beat PSV in Nijmegen, 1-0 (Wisgerhof). And the only thing Been can complain about was the fact that it stayed a mere 1-0. His team should have put PSV away more convincingly.

PSV coach Huub Stevens: “What can I say? I can’t put my shoes on and do it for them. You prepare them as best as you can and than it’s up to them…”

NEC climbed to the 5th place of the standings. PSV is number 4 but could drop two places today.

Crisis in Eindhoven?

NAC, in the meantime, won 2-0 against De Graafschap and is the new leader. Today, AZ and Ajax are able to reach the same number of points (22 points after 10 games). Feyenoord hosts Willem van Hanegem’s FC Utrecht.

Ajax just killed Sparta 5-1 and I had to leave late in 2nd half. I don’t think Sparta even had the ball in the AJax end for about 20-30 minutes at one point. Seriously.

KJH got hurt–ankle or foot-and left for Sno, who scored and set up Leonardo with a very nice asisst. MVB has been playing SNO as a backup central srtiker and he has looked quite good. Holds it up well, is so big, fast in a lumbering way, but still lacks an accurate shot. A work in progress but potential up there. Ajax has so many defensive or central midfielders anyway.

    Finn,

Sparta pulled one back but a pretty good game from Ajax. When you have different goal scorers it tells you that the prayers are gelling together. I wonder if Van Basten is having second thoughts on Kennedy - he played well.

Nice to see Feyenoord actually put some balls in the net. I was beginning to think that they would not have a serious team this year.
